Cultural icons of the British indie scene, The Libertines have recently been announced as this years headliners at Tramlines Festival. The acclaimed inner city event located in Sheffield will take place between Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd July across multiple venues in the city, with the likely lads from London topping the bill at the Ponderosa main stage.
The Libertines have been described as one of the most compelling, chaotic rock’n’roll groups of the past 20 years. Their inclusion at the Tramlines festival demonstrates that the band is as relevant and prominent in the music scene as ever. Despite only releasing three studio albums, the band have created a legacy as one of the most influential British bands of the 21st century.
They are joined by Metronomy and All Saints for the main stage. Metronomy have cemented themselves as electronic pop royalty after the hugely celebrated ‘Summer 08’. London-Canadian pop group All Saints will also play at Ponderosa park, with the group confirming that they are set to release EP One Strike, as well as fourth studio album Red Flag later this year.
Described by organisers as their biggest bill to date, includes a variety of performers from around the globe. The announcement boasts a mix of local, regional, national and international stars, plus emerging talent, including Yorkshire’s own high flyers Alvarez Kings, Lucy Spraggan, Sheffield’s very own Sgt Pepper Project and indie rockers We Are Scientists.
Also featured on the bill are Toots and the Maytals, The Coral, Twin Atlantic, The Pharcyde, Loyle Carner, Don Letts, M.O, Cate Le Bon, Hot 8 Brass Band, Nadia Rose, Omar Souleyman, Akala, and more.
This year’s Tramlines festival has been overhauled and modernised meaning the event will be an outdoor event, located in three of Sheffield’s most popular public park spaces. With The Main Stage remaining at Ponderosa park, many will be able to see 90’s pop sensation All Saints strut their stuff.
