Event Preview: The Red Carpet Sessions (01/04/17)

Woods Coffee Broadway in Tynemouth plays host to The Red Carpet Sessions this coming Saturday. This monthly event showcases four upcoming artists from across the UK, all performing live at the beautifully intimate coffee shop venue.

We’ve taken a look ahead at this week’s line up to see what’s in store!

At only 18 years old Danielle Brown is making a huge impact on the North East’s music scene, with performances at venues such as the Metro Radio Arena already under her belt this soulful diva is bursting with potential and raw talent.

Influences: Duffy, Amy Winehouse, Paloma Faith, Adele.




A talented lyricist, representing Sunderland hip-hop and grime collective ‘New North East’, Reali-T stands out in the North East hip-hop scene. Originally from Hackney, this young MC boasts a polished flow and delivery reminiscent of classic US rap rather than UK grime.

Influences: Eminem, Cassidy, Notorious B.I.G.

Katie Wedgwood



Armed with a smile, a guitar and a ukulele, Katie Wedgwood has a knack of lighting up any venue she plays. With an array of original songs as well as unique covers, Katie oozes talent and personality.

Influences: Imelda May, Brandi Carlile.




Hailing from London and based in Durham, drawing inspiration from hip-hop, RnB and pop, Surya has caught the attention of BBC introducing with his unique sound. Looking to break the status quo and push boundaries with his music, Surya is an exciting young talent and not to be missed.

Influences: A Tribe Called Quest, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake.
