This week’s Artist of the Week is undoubtably one of the most prolific MC’s the North East has to offer. Since the release of her debut album, A Piece of Cake, in January of last year, it seems like not a month has gone by without Leddie being added to another festival line-up, appearing on the BBC or announcing she’ll be supporting some of the biggest names in hip-hop (namely one Jayceon Taylor, AKA The Game).
Not only is Leddie setting the standard for upcoming musicians in the region, she also has the added pressure of setting that standard as a female in a predominantly male dominated genre – and she’s doing a damn good job of it. The Boro native embodies the gritty, aggressive style that is beginning to define North East hip-hop and with her tireless work rate, it’s safe to say Leddie is one of the best in the region at what she does.
