Record Store Day 2018: Sunderland Record Shop Guide

With the unveiling of this year’s releases, it seems that Record Store Day 2018 is right around the corner. The excitement is building with big name artists like David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds due to receive the Record Store Day treatment this year. Vinyl enthusiasts will be queuing up outside their favourite independent stores on the 21st of April ready to get their hands on the newest exclusive records. Pop Recs

It hasn’t been long since Sunderland’s newest record shop came onto the scene back in 2015. Opened by members of the band Frankie and the Heartstrings, the store also doubles as a café and a venue for local gigs. Pop Recs has hosted a range of bands over the past 3 years, as well as open mic nights and charity events. Stop by this Record Store Day to get the latest exclusive releases and a sweet cup of tea.

Hot Rats has long been established as Sunderland’s main go-to store, selling a wide range of new and pre-loved records. Adopting a similar stance to Reflex records in Newcastle, you won’t be able to reserve your purchases before the 21st so be sure to get down early to get your hands on those exclusive releases.
