Grime duo Castle and NE-O AKA NE Dons have slowly but surely been creating a humble buzz for themselves in the North East over the past year, dropping back to back bangers on Soundcloud and turning up to shell down the odd festival across the region. It seems the lads have been waiting for the right time to really make their first big move in the scene, until now.
The first single from their debut EP ‘NANG’ is dropping today, along with a video, and from what we’ve heard of the preview it’s a certified banger, 100% adrenaline fulled, punch in the face grime. We spoke to the pair after their set at this year’s Evolution Emerging festival in Newcastle…
Despite the issues the duo faced during their slot at Evo, they carried on like professionals and put on an amazingly high energy set that really grabbed the attention of the crowd. Their decision to do an Eskimo set to bring their performance to an end, essentially 15-miutues of back to back free styling until the rappers run out of bars, in front of a crowd unfamiliar with the style was a risk – but it more than paid off, NE Dons put on a spectacle not just a show.
