After reaching out on Facebook for your suggestions on who should be this week’s AOTW, you got back to us with a number of fantastic artists working hard in the North East – some that we hadn’t even heard of before. Thank you to everyone that responded, you’ve put a lot of artists on our radar and opened our eyes to what we’re missing.
The main point of AOTW is to expose some of the hardest working upcoming artists around to as many people as we can – it’s that simple. Newcastle native Zico is one of those hard working artists.
Constantly doing shows up and down the country, Zico’s grime, reggae/dancehall and jungle inspired sound is the perfect soundtrack to the summer – it’s high energy, upbeat and absolutely certain to get you on the dance floor.
The palpable energy throughout his music is reflected 10-fold in his live performances, with infectious beats and vocals that get your head bopping, Zico’s music is the perfect remedy for a bad mood. There’s no one in the North East quite on the same wave that Zico’s on, and that’s what makes him one of the most exciting acts in the region.
Zico’s keeping himself busy over the next few months, with three sets at Lindisfarne Festival on the cards, as well as an appearance at Lively Up Newcastle’s 7th birthday show. New music is on the way as well, Zico is currently collaborating with a number of producers on a new EP set for release this coming September/October.
