After shutting down his album launch party at Bar Loco this past weekend, Newcastle based emcee Ryza is our ‘Artist of the Week’. Performing tracks from his debut album ‘MECASASUCASA’, Ryza had the intimate Bar Loco performance area jumping as he spat bars with a raw outpouring of passion and aggression.
The rapper regularly walks the line between straight-up hip-hop, trap and drill with his beats, often coming with violent lyrics that reflect gritty real-life experiences. Above all, Ryza’s sound is all about realness; he’s writing about the life he leads with no filter or fake glamour – that’s a trait that deserves respect.
