Artist of the Week – Pxnther (#42)

After seeing Pxnther bring an incredible energy to his Shutdown NCL slot at World Headquarters last week, the fast upcoming emcee is our ‘Artist of the Week’.

Seeing the confidence Pxnther and the rest of his M310 collective had at World Headquarters this past week, you wouldn’t think that the majority of them are only 17 years old and that it was the first time a lot of them had performed in front of a crowd. The Gateshead based emcee dropped his first, and currently only, track “What Do I Do” in May this year.

In six months the track has amassed almost 100K listens/views over Soundcloud and YouTube; an impressive number for a totally unknown artist’s first drop. Given the quality of this bouncy dancehall inspired track, the numbers are totally warranted; the hook is ludicrously infectious and the comic narrative about being stuck between a new girlfriend and an ex creates a fun, lighthearted vibe.

The amount of early potential this kid shows is unreal. Pxnther’s got the ability, got the charisma, now he just needs to keep his work rate up and continue to perfect his sound. Thankfully, Pxnther has got more tracks in the cannon; he performed a new joint at the Shutdown NCL show that saw him go for a more aggressive, drill-style beat and vocal delivery. He’s also teased a track called “MONDINGO” on Instagram, set to be dropped at the end of November.

2019 could be the year of the Pxnther – don’t get caught sleeping on him!
