Track of the Week: “Take It All Away” – Just B

Penned at the back end of last year and finally released last week, “Take It All Away” sees North East grime king Just B look to rock legends Queen for inspiration. Sampling the iconic voice and piano work of Freddie Mercury from one of Queen’s slower numbers “You Take My Breath Away”, Just B brings anger and sadness in equal measure on this raw cut. The Ashington rapper’s delivery is as venomous as ever, the unfiltered emotion in his voice papable throughout the track.

Sampling one of the most legendary rock vocalists of all time is a brave move from ‘B, it could have just straight up not worked sonically or fans might not have shared ‘B’s enthusiasm for Queen. Predictably though ‘B has pulled it off with finesse, it sounds killer and the reaction on social media has been overwhelmingly positive.

With a little help from Queen, Just B is still king

Honourable mention: “Shuggy Showboat” – Smooth Jezza x Arcane Soakes x J Spinkz

Released on Sunday 30th June, this track just went under our radar for last week’s TOTW and was pipped at the post by Just B for this one. It’s a catchy track that with an infectiously playful hook that sees veteran emcee Smooth Jezza link up with NE hip-hop new blood Arcane Soakes and J Spinkz.
