Last week we got a new EP from Newton Aycliffe’s favourite son Kv$hnoodle! The four-track project ‘You Can’t Contol Me’ packs a lot of bang for your buck, not one minute of the trim 10 minute run time wasted. “Personality Split” stood out to us because it perfectly encapsulates Kv$H‘s appeal, the same appeal throughout this project, his absolute unpredictability. His eerily cavernous beats allow Kv$h to switch from spitting bars to screaming with unbridled emotion – the atmosphere created is palpable on “Personality Split”.
More than anything, ‘You Can’t Control Me’ shows the many dimensions to Kv$H as an artist. He’s not just a one-trick pony ’emo rapper’. On “Pounds Right” Kv$H gives his unique take on a flex track, “Change” sees him come with high energy confidence, and “Drippin” is a vessel for showcasing Kv$h’s pure rapping ability. With a recent surge in emotionally positioned trap music coming out of the North East, Kv$H could have easily fallen victim to being just another brick in the wall if he didn’t keep pushing forward creatively. ‘You Can’t Control Me’ is that push, the push that puts Kv$h ahead of his ever-growing list of contemporaries.
