BBC Introducing in the North East has recently announce its tips for 2020 list, featuring 10 artists from the region that they believe are going to have a big impact this year.
Across the UK BBC Introducing has played a part in bringing artists like Sam Fender, Lewis Capaldi, Slaves and Florence and the Machine to the forefront of British music. To see acts with their roots in the North East hip-hop scene picked on this year’s list brings a lot of hope that with this push they could make that leap from the local stage to the national spotlight in 2020.
North Tyneside grime duo NE-Dons, Jarrow R&B songstress Jamilah and Newcastle electronic duo SQUARMS have all made the list, alongside bigfatbig, Cortney Dixon, Girl From Winter Jargon, Kkett, Me Lost Me, Swine Tax and Trunky Juno. Not only does being on this list give these artists extra exposure, it also means that the BBC will be supporting their releases throughout the year, inviting them onto the BBC Newcastle programme for live sessions and featuring them on their various festival stages.
It’s going to be exciting to see what these artists bring to the table this year, we can’t wait for them to start turning heads nationwide! Who from the North East would you pick for your 2020 tips list? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!
