This new single from Newcastle based rapper and producer duo Sågaboi and Xaatu is one of their best releases to date. Xaatu’s bass-filled dark trap beat provides the perfect path, with its peaks and troughs, for Sågaboi’s auto-croon vocals that pull the energy up and up from one verse to the next. The pace of this track is perfect, with both Såga and Xaatu working up to an almost euphoric crescendo of energy on the last verse. Lyrically Såga also brings the heat, flipping from conscious bars to lowkey inspirational braggadocio. “All of these bitches are boring, I do not answer their messages I only answer my calling.” – one of our favourite bars from a bag full of quotables on this one.
This cut is a special one from this North East duo – 2020 could be the year Såga comes into his own and gets the recognition he deserves.
