Dustin Gill, AKA Drawn To The Sky, is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer out of small-town Minnesota.
Since 2018 DTTS has been making a name for himself online with his out of the box music that fuses pop, emo and hip-hop to create raw, emotion filled bangers.
With no sign of slowing down in 2021, DTTS is hell-bent on becoming one of the most prominent alternative rap artists in the game right now. So, we sat down with DTTS for a chat with him after the release of his latest single “Dopamine Death Dream”.
What first inspired you to make music?
Growing up in rural Minnesota, I spent the vast majority of my childhood alone with just me and my imagination. Music was always something I could turn to when I felt lonely, and the experience it provided for me was almost transcendental in nature. This eventually led me to pick up my first guitar at 11 years old so I could recreate those experiences – this time at my own fingertips.
How would you describe your sound?
My sound is a melting pot of all of my favorite music growing up and what I listen to today. But no matter what particular style I’m writing on any given day, it’s always laced with a bit of an emo/alternative flavor that’s been with me since I was 15.
What inspires you when it comes to actually writing a song?
Anything that makes me feel something out of this world. Whether that be a good feeling or a bad one, writing is my form of personal therapy to get those emotions off my chest.
Who’s your dream collab?
I would absolutely love to collaborate with brakence and Convolk at some point in the near future. They both resonate with me a big level, and I know their energy is in a similar place. If I had to chose one dream collab though, Post Malone would probably be at the top of the list if we’re gonna shoot for the stars.
What can we expect from you for the rest of the year?
2021 is going to be a massive year for me as far as putting out new music. I’m looking forward to releasing my first official ‘Drawn To The Sky’ merchandise, as well as seeing everyone’s smiling faces at shows! Very excited to reconnect with other humans again in person and swim through the positive momentum of this summer.
