Single Review: “Wait” – Sourboy ft. Lofty

The North East of England isn’t the first place that comes to mind when you’re thinking of UK rap culture, but there’s a lot of artists in the region making a name for themselves locally right now.

And one of those artists is undoubtably Sourboy. He’s been putting in the work for a couple of years now, turning heads in Newcastle and the surrounding cities with his energy and slick flow behind the mic.

This latest track may just be Sour’s hardest to date. Linking up with fellow North East rising star Lofty, of Middlesborough, Sour lets the feature bring out the best in him on “Wait”.

Sour attacks the bouncy beat with a pure confidence and swagger, dishing out a catchy melodic hook as well as straight up cold verses. He’s on absolute smoke on this one, questioning anyone who doesn’t rate him in the North East’s top three spitters. It’s hard to argue with him after hearing this one.

Lofty and Sour bounce off each other when they go back to back, the beat just seems to fit the style of their adrenaline fuelled flows and forces them to bring the party vibes.

“Wait” is one of Sourboy’s coldest tracks to date. It’s high energy and custom made to bring the vibe at a party. Lofty brings his A game on this track too and the pair bounce each off other to create something truly electric!
