You might remember rising Canadian artist ovrthro from our previous review of his single “Victim” back in June and now he’s back again with the blissfully melancholic “Foolish”!
“Foolish” sees the Windsor, Ontario native lament on a lost relationship that he’s still been hung up on for over three years. He sits alone foolishly wondering if she’ll come back and torturing himself over the thought rather than going through the pain of accepting it’ll probably never happen.
ovrthro is, as always, the full package on this one. Producing a down-emo trap beat that’s laced with 80’s sounding electric guitar riffs perfectly placed to bring in his infectious crooning vocals on the chorus.
He get’s the tempo absolutely perfect on this one, lulling you into a false sense of security with some simple acoustic guitar before hitting you with a melodic tale of regret.
This is definitely one of those tracks that’s custom built for a long walk in the rain or a dark night in just wallowing in some sadness. Because sometimes a good old wallow can be cathartic, it get’s all those shit thoughts out of your system. And that’s exactly what ovrthro is doing on this track!
A sublime slice of melodic trap from one of Canada’s most underrated musical talents. “Foolish” is a tale of relationships lost told in the most beautifully slick way by ovrthro. You can’t help but keep going back to this one!
