Hailing from Vancouver B.C, Blak Ace has already solidified himself as an underground star and in 2023 he’s set his sights on international acclaim with this latest release. Taken from his upcoming EP, BlAk MajiK showcases exactly why this high-level spitter deserves so much more attention.
Blak Ace flows with an incredible style and slickness over a dynamic boom-bap meets soul beat. The pace stays high energy from start to finish, Blak Ace comes with a mix of deep bars and tongue-in-cheek punchlines that keeps you locked in all the way through.
You’ve got to listen to the track a few times to really deep all of the high-level lyricism. Blak Ace is without doubt one of the most talented lyricists we’ve heard in so long, he’s bringing it back to the old school where bars had some thought behind them. Our favourite line has to be the lowkey Training Day reference “we live this life through the ups and downs, with smiles and frowns.” At least we think it’s a reference to Ethan Hawke’s ‘smiles and frowns’ quote. Either way, the bars are smooth and Blak Ace keeps them coming.
If BlAk MajiK is anything to go by, then Blak Ace has to be on our artists to watch list in 2023. With three more singles already lined up this year and bags of raw talent, you simply can’t afford to sleep on this artist!
